7 Ways to Share the Love this Valentine’s Day

February 09 , 2021

Has February got you in the mood for love? This year’s Valentine’s Day celebrations may feel a bit subdued compared to previous years, but that doesn’t mean expressing your love has to be! Here are a few at activities that can add to your love-filled day.

Make Breakfast in Bed

Bringing a loved one homemade breakfast while they’re still cozy in bed can be one of the simplest and kindest acts of love to start the day. If you’re one to cook with others, you can cook with your sweet someone and sneak back into bed for a snug homestyle (literally) breakfast! Need some recipe inspo? Here are some tasty suggestions. If you prefer a to-go breakfast to present, pop out to one of these local favorites for a coffee or tea, donut, or pastry.

Go for a Walk

Not only can a walk be romantic and head-clearing, but with Vancouver’s chilly yet beautiful weather prediction for the next few days, it’s also a great way to take advantage of the sun. We suggest strolling around Granville Island or along False Creek, maybe stopping to people-watch at one of Charleson Parks’ sunny benches. Remember to dress warm!

Give a Handmade Card or Package

Breakfast in bed is only one of the many homemade gift options for that special someone! Crack open the craft cupboard, drawer, or cabinet to get crafting on a handmade card. Add in some of those cheeky love puns or dive deep with some heartfelt statements. If a care package is more your speed, assemble your own with chocolate, snacks, and other small gifts that remind you of the one you love. These are perfect for that far away valentine as they can be dropped off in mailboxes or left at door steps.

Camp from Home

Embrace a staycation by transforming your space into a campground under the stars or in this case, ceiling! Pitch a tent in your living room, grab a couple of cozy blankets and pillows, and dim the lights, scatter some candles and hang twinkle lights. Enjoy a cup of (spiked) hot chocolate or wine in front of a fire, whether it be a real or a digital one, and snuggle up!

Take a Virtual Cocktail Class

If you’re looking to expand your mixology knowledge together, look no further than a virtual cocktail class. Vancouver-based bartending service, Lavish Liquid, offers virtual cocktail classes! Book a class or order one of their cocktail kits to receive everything you need to create a tasty beverage. Or experiment together, making a cocktail with what you have on hand and topping it with some fresh basil, rosemary, or rose petals to lean in to the romance. If you need a bit of guidance here are many cocktail suggestions, pick one or combine multiple into the ultimate Valentines drink. Let us know in the comments below what you end up creating!

Have a Karaoke Night

If you’re unafraid to belt out some tunes with your companion, cue up some of your favorite songs to sing. Grab a microphone, or microphone substitute like a spatula or hairbrush, to help get in the zone! You can find the lyrics and music videos online to assist you in your live show as you dance and sing to your heart’s content from the comfort of your home.

Order a Delicious Meal

Food is love, right? It definitely can be. There are many Vancouver restaurants offering Valentines specials with boxes and bundles of mouth-watering meals. Many are set courses from tasting menus that walk you through the flavors of love. Find out which meal fits your romantic evening here. Additionally, Dine Out Vancouver starts this month until March 5th where you can get incredible food at a fixed price. It’s a great option if you’d like to try somewhere new, support local businesses, and satisfy your appetite. Make reservations or preorder from a list of over 300 restaurants for you and your sweet someone here.
