7 Local Stores to Shop at this Holiday Season
December 15 , 2020
Looking to shop local for loved ones this holiday season? Look no further than our curated selection for anyone on your list:
1. One of A Few
Located in Vancouver’s historic Gastown, this community-based store carries women’s clothing, accessories, home decor, and stationary. They stock designer and local brands that are ethically produced, while providing a welcoming space to explore and experiment. If you’re looking to do your gift purchases online this year, you can find their items in their online store, which is just as whimsical, ephemeral, and inviting as the store.

3. Out and About
If you happen to be strolling down W. Cordova and spot a bright red door, you’re in the right place! Out and About is another Gastown gem, tucked perfectly into the corner of the historic Petrina Building (circa 1888). Carrying everything from sustainably made clothes to delicate and intricate glassware—many designed and made by local artists—you can tell each item was made with love and care. If you’re in the store, you can also go downstairs to their section of curated thrifted clothes or peruse their website.

4. Paper Hound
A spot for the book lovers in your life as Paper Hound carries books for every reader. They love their beautiful, bizarre, and whimsical books but also carry classics. The stretch of West Pender Street that they are located on is considered “book row” as it has the highest density of bookstores in Vancouver! Paper Hound does not have an online store but they suggest coming into their store if you’re comfortable (they have implemented covid safe protocols) or you can call and see what they recommend. Plus, if you place an order they will deliver for free within Vancouver—by bike!
